I recently read a blog about finding the perfect workout. And my first thought was, "Ugh! I will never find a perfect exercise. I will never enjoy exercise. I will exercise because I have to & because I want to lose weight & get in shape!"
I was wrong.
I LOVE swimming! I had such a great time today! I worked really hard & definately felt like I had worked up a sweat, if I hadn't been in water. It was AWESOME!!! I worked hard, I had fun. I don't mind using the different machines. And I don't mind the elliptical machines. All cardio machines at my gym have t.v.s in them, so I can just focus on whatever is on the screen. But swimming, I could just concentrate on my muscles or let my thoughts drift.
So what is your favorite workout?

Running. I know it sounds weird, but I never liked it when I was fat. It was hard, and my knees hurt. Now I run about 4-5 miles a day and I'm training for the Lakefront Marathon. Perhaps Nate will join me some year. I love the places I get to see and the fresh air. Except when it's cold, then I get to watch TV while I hit the treadmill.
no freaking way am I running a marathon, unless it's part of an Ironman..:) I don't plan on getting to that level, but we'll see how much fun this first triathlon is going to be..:)
I have a strange relationship with exercise. I still don't like it, but I'm now addicted to it. I am compelled to exercise now. My preferred method is the exercise bike, but I do like swimming as well
Brian: You run 4-5 miles every day?!! That's impressive! Good luck in your marathon! I am anxious to hear how it goes!
Nate: When is your triathalon? What are you doing to train for it?
I'm planning for a sprint distance triathlon the summer of 2008. Brian is doing it with me and another guy.
it's a 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3.1 mile run
right now I'm just focusing on getting healthy and losing weight. I'm biking on my exercise bike 3-4 times a week, walking 2 times a week and road biking once a week if it's nice out. This summer I'll be adding swimming.
